8 Ways To Protect Your TikTok Account From Hackers

When you use digital platforms, there is always a risk of hackers, and TikTok accounts are no exception. But, there are some ways that you can avoid scams and hackers. Here are some tips that you should follow to secure your account.

1. Create a Stronger Password

When you keep a stronger password, your account has a lower risk of falling into the hands of hackers. If you use the same password for all of your accounts and any of them get hacked, your TikTok account will also be in trouble. So, it’s important to create strong and tricky as well as unique passwords to prevent hackers.Your password needs to be 16 characters or more and includes both uppercase and lowercase, symbols, and numbers.

2. Benefit from Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication is the best way to prevent hackers and phishing. This allows you to prove your identity when you log in from a new device. So, when you try to log in, you will get a code via email or text that you need to give before logging in. Since hackers won’t be able to access that codee, they can never open your account. Go to settings, and tap the Two-step verification option to protect your account.

3. Avoid Clicking on Links Sent by Unknown People

Your TikTok account will have great worth if you have thousands or millions of followers. Having great followership can put you at risk, as many hackers want to access your account to engage with your audience. Therefore, you can get links from people you don’t know. These links take you to phishing websites that steal your data and information. As a result, hackers easily surpass your privacy and change your password to use your account. So, make sure to never open links that seem suspicious to you.

4. Identify Offers and Solutions that are Too Good to be True

You might notice several threats that offer financial solutions, discounts, and help for other problems. If these posts sound too good to be true, they might be a plot by hackers to access valuable profiles. So, try to recognize what type of people and posts you want to engage with on the platform.

5. Remove Unwanted Devices Connected to Your Account

TikTok offers the option to manage the devices connected to your account. You need to check this regularly to ensure that no person other than you is using your account. This way, you can log your account out of unrecognizable devices. If you notice that you are logging in from a device that you have never used, remove them immediately and change your password so that the other person is never able to open your account again.

6. Remove Third Party Applications

Removing third party application protects your profile from being hacked. Like with other applications, your TikTok account is also vulnerable to hacking attempts. To remove third party applications, just go to the security and log in option in the settings, and tap ‘manage app permissions.’  Review the applications connected with your profile and remove the access of the app you no longer want to connect to your TikTok account.

7. Regularly Change Your Password

Another way to prevent hackers from surpassing your security is to reset your password regularly. This way, even if anyone has seen your password, they never have the  chance to hack your account. Also, do this immediately if you tell your password to anyone or anyone has seen you typing your password. But again, try out a strong password. We advise changing your password every 6 months.

8. Stay Away From Scams

If any TikTok user contacts you and promises to help you in any situation but asks for personal information, don’t reply back and block them. These are scams to trap users and hack their accounts. On top of that, posts and users who try to gain sympathy or ask for help can also be a sign of trouble. Again, if the content is low quality and includes “spammy” content such as “click me,” don't engage with them.

Hackers are present on every platform, especially TikTok. You need to opt for ways to protect your account from hackers. It doesn’t matter if your account has ever been hacked or not; it's better to keep the above-mentioned things in mind.
